Jury report
The Golden Swan 2025 has been awarded to Guy Weizman and Roni Haver of Club Guy & Roni and NITE.
Through their long-standing collaboration, Guy Weizman and Roni Haver have, with courage and infectious artistic joy, left a truly distinctive mark on what interdisciplinary work can be. Time and again, they impress with their unique form of danced “XXL total theatre,” always accompanied by newly composed live music. The two artists continue to strengthen one another, constantly reinventing themselves without ever losing the balance between renewal and authenticity.
This is reflected in their work for both NITE and their dance company, Club Guy & Roni. Their visual language is rich and idiosyncratic, their dance language diverse and full of vitality, and their attitude toward audiences open and generous. The ensemble carries this abundance with remarkable strength.
The themes of their series The Human Odyssey are urgent and deeply relevant, and are brought to the stage with conviction. The fresh perspectives and fascinating international partners that Guy & Roni bring into each new work add timely, well-placed accents to an ever-growing body of work. Polyphony and inclusivity are integral to their creative practice—and were so even before these became major points of focus across the wider field.
A testament to the sustainability of their way of working is the fact that several dancers have been part of the company for many years and continue to grow within it. It is a gift to see dancers on stage who are not at the very start of their careers; their performances show how the layers and richness of a dancer’s artistry deepen over time.
At the other end of the career ladder, Club Guy & Roni / NITE also provide space, mentorship, and a platform for emerging artists, through initiatives such as the Poetic Disasters Club and the CG&R Invites Tour. Particularly in their home region in the north of the Netherlands, they are a vital lifeline for dance, while also being loved and celebrated internationally.
These winners of the Golden Swan 2025 are an indispensable artistic force in the Dutch dance field: Club Guy & Roni.
