The Human Odyssey
The Human Odyssey: an artistic trajectory through continuous co-creations with dance companies around the world attempting to trace and capture human existential pillars enriching the discussion between cultures resulting in innovative artistic exchange and dialogue.
Every year Club Guy & Roni creates a new performance with a company abroad, touring both continents. In 2022 we will create FORTUNE with Navdhara India Dance Theater from Mumbai, in 2023 we will partner up with MovesMX from Guadalajara Mexico and festival Internacional Cervantino, Guanajato, and in 2024 we are creating FAITH with artists in and from Morocco.
These co-creations are artistically and culturally exciting, and the result is urgent, provoking and unique.
After spending several weeks creating in India, the creation focuses on FORTUNE in non-economic terms: The incredible fortunate coincidence of being alive, the fortune of breath and of moving. A personal journey about how our lives are entangled with past and future generations and everyone and everything else on this small planet, and moments that unveil a bit of the miracle that is life.
The work will be performed by three dancers from Mumbai, India, and four dancers of the Club. With live music by 4 versatile musicians of Slagwerk den Haag (percussion group The Hague). The creation is co-directed and co-choreographed by Guy Weizman, Roni Haver and Ashley Lobo.
Freedom 2021 (available for touring)
By Club Guy&Roni + Mouhamedou Ould Slahi + Slagwerk den Haag + De Balie Amsterdam
The question of what our, your or my freedom is culminates in the unimaginable story of Mohamedou Ould Slahi, which forms the core of our creation: the ongoing physical and political unfreedom of Mohamedou, who unfortunately left the biggest empty seat we have ever had during our premieres.
Co creating with Mohamedou Ould Salahi, who got back his freedom during the tour of this performance, inspired many people around the world. FREEDOM will be performing in 2022 in the Netherlands, Germany and Korea, and have its tour in France in 2023.

“Tense, coarse, daring, well timed” – ⭐⭐⭐⭐ de Volkskrant

Phobia is being defined by the fabulous dance scenes, while the mesmerising and intense music by Slagwerk Den Haag effectively (and loudly) deepens the disastrous atmosphere. – ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Dagblad van het Noorden
Islands of EMPATHY (in a sea of chaos) explores the ways in which empathy could be a driving force for how we live together. Through an exchange with various artists in Mexico, co-produced by MovesMX, we create around the feeling of belonging to a community based on an empathy towards the needs of others, while in the Netherlands we are raised individualistic, in Mexico social structures are based on caring and be cared for.
Twenty years after they danced together; Eleno Guzmán Gutiérrez -director general de MOVES- and Camilo Chapela Mazariegos -dancer at Club Guy & Roni- brought us together to make thisintercontinental co-creation.
EMPATHY premieres in Mexico and will tour in Latin-America and Europe throughout the season 2023-2024. Creation and rehearsals will be shared between Mexico and the Netherlands, starting from July 2023.
