Club Guy & Roni is rewriting a beloved Russian classic: Swan Lake
Tragedy or happy ending? You decide!
The Club is back with a new performance that encompasses the real and the virtual world: SWAN LAKE. Covid-19 forced theatres to reduce their capacity, but it also taught us new ways to share the magic of performing arts. The NITE hotel reopens its virtual doors to host the digital version of the performance, SWAN LAKE: The Game. Club Guy & Roni + Slagwerk Den Haag + Tomoko Mukaiyama join forces to create a performance that burns down the classic to reignite its ashes with an idiosyncratic choreography and music that would make Tchaikovsky shiver.
The Black Swans of the 21st century has radically changed our way of life. The combined effects of the pandemic and the climate crisis have struck our fairy-tale democratic, liberal consumer’s paradise. But hope is far from gone. Now the question is about our ability to reinvent our role in society. Will we tame the Black Swan? The answer, as the end of the performance, is in your hands. The live audience in the theatre and the viewers participating in Swan Lake: The Game determine how the tale ends. Everyone has a say, and with this influence comes responsibility: the responsibility to respond to today’s crisis.
Whatever the answer, we can do it together!
Whether in the theatre auditorium, or in the comfort of your own couch you will be enchanted by the talent of the ensemble. A new togetherness rises from the encounter between the choices made by the live audience of Swan Lake and the online viewers of Swan Lake: the game. As the former walks from room to room in the theater, the latter move among the rooms of the NITE hotel.
