Theater as a place for humanity

We cannot remain silent. What is happening in Gaza today is unimaginable and unacceptable. Thousands of Palestinian civilians are being killed and entire communities are being starved. Israeli hostages have been held in inhumane conditions for almost two years and political prisoners are being detained. This is nothing less than genocide and systematic oppression.

That is why we are freezing all professional relations with government-subsidized organizations in Israel and the state of Israel itself. Not with individual artists or independent initiatives—because we recognize and support their courageous and often dangerous struggle to bring about change from within. Their voices must continue to be heard, and we cannot abandon them.

We implore the Dutch government to do everything in its power to help end the war in Gaza. Political pressure, diplomacy, international cooperation—all means must be used to stop the bloodshed and bring about a future of peace, justice, and coexistence.

As a company, we do what we can: make theatre together. With everyone who chooses life and love, against hate and death. Performances that stimulate, challenge, and move the audience, inviting them to show humanity and compassion. Amidst violence and pain, we search for a different story—a story in which hope does not disappear, but remains intact.

For us, theatre is a way to find humanity, beyond boundaries and labels. A space where many voices and perspectives can be heard side by side, spoken out loud but always with empathy. Because art is always about empathy. And empathy is perhaps our most powerful weapon against violence.
